Really Short Pieces

Painted Hunter
I wrote this piece after seeing a painting at an art exhibition. The image on the left is from Pixabay.

Ode to a Butterfly Kite
I wrote this piece after seeing a dad help his young daughter to fly a kite in a park.

By George He Did It
This piece evolved from an exercise where I had to write a headline and a logline suitable for a newspaper, many years ago. I dug it out recently and reworked it for a writing exercise. Image by Pixabay

Six MinutesThis piece was written for a Competition. The Theme of the Competition was A Field of Battle.
For years, my daughter and I spoke about how the performance arts were never given the same media attention as sports. If you have ever attended an ice skating competition or a dance eisteddfod you quickly realise the teams are as competitive as any sports team. The ice arena and dance floor are transformed into a colourful battlefield. To make things a little more interesting, they have a strict time limit and only one chance.

HIDDEN WORLD
This is one of the pieces I wrote for Carol Schwarzman's exhibition Star Zero. I wondered how the old explorers first saw land after months at sea and how they charted the new land. |

THE RUBICON
This piece was written after some one I thought highly of proved to have feet of clay.
